Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes Planning On Taking Daughter Suri To First Day Of School Together

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are planning on taking their daughter Suri to school together for her first day in a couple of weeks, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.

"Tom has been filming his latest movie in London but has made plans to be in New York for Suri's first day of school, which will be after Labor Day," a source close to the former couple tells Radar. "Tom and Katie have been speaking on the telephone regarding Suri and Katie has been very supportive of Tom wanting to be there when Suri goes to her new school for the first time.

"It's a big moment in Suri's life and Katie wants Tom to be a part of that. Of course, there will be security concerns and Tom doesn't want to disrupt other parents and students at the school with his presence, which means he very well could slip in and out via a back entrance. Katie doesn't want Suri to suffer because of their divorce and both parents are truly putting the needs of their little girl ahead of their own feelings."

As we previously reported, Holmes has no regrets about filing for divorce and has been "blissfully happy" since making the life changing decision. “She’s been enjoying the company of her family a lot more, something she couldn’t really do when she was married to Tom. He controlled who she saw and he often wasn’t so approving of her family," an insider previously told Radar.


"Katie's desire for Suri to enroll in school was one of the main reasons why she decided to split from Tom. Tom's two children with Nicole Kidman were home schooled by Scientology tutors and he wanted the same for Suri. However, Katie had completely different plans and has already enrolled Suri in an elite private school. Tom doesn't like it, but he has reluctantly accepted this is the way it's going to be and will absolutely be a big part of Suri's life at school. Both Tom and Katie will take part in parent/teacher conferences and other school activities that Suri will become involved in," the insider says.

Suri Cruise was drunk ON FUN this weekend ... she hit up a Build-A-Bear shop with the lady she calls her mother, Katie Holmes, but instead of building a bear ... she built a German Shepard. JA!

The littlest Cruise was out shopping at the Westfield Franklin Park Mall in Toledo, OH on Sunday ... when she and Tom Cruise's ex hit up the Build-A-Bear workshop for kicks and giggles, JA!

Sources on scene tell TMZ ... after perusing the options, the mini Cruise ditched the bears and picked out an 18" black & tan German Shepard instead ... which Build-A-Bear says "will bring a lifetime of love and hugs!" JA!

The fun didn't stop there ... we're told Suri chose the name "Sara" for  the pooch's "birth certificate" ... but was adamant that "Sara" be spelled using ONLY four letters ... because "Suri"  has just four letters too.

Tom Cruise’s son to appear in first major film role

Tom Cruise’s son Connor Cruise is appearing in his first major role in the remake of 80s teen action film ‘Red Dawn’.

Cruise made his acting debut in 2008, with a minor role playing young Will Smith in Seven Pounds. However, this is his first film with a major role.

His new film, slated for release on November 21, is about a group of teenagers who seek to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers.

The film, directed by Bourne Supremacy and Spiderman stunt coordinator Dan Bradley also stars Chris Hemsworth, The Hunger Games famed Josh Hutcherson, and a young Australian Isabel Lucas.

Cruise’s co-workers praise him for his personality and strong character.

“Connor is a really cool kid,” Hutcherson said of Connor, who plays his best friend in the film.

“When you look at his upbringing and how it's been different than so many people, he is very well-rounded, grounded, extremely smart, physically -- just great at all sports. You can see where he gets that from -- his dad," Hutcherson added.

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman adopted Connor Cruise in 1995, six years before their separation.

Tom Cruise plans to win back daughter Suri

Hollywood star Tom Cruise reportedly wants to restore his public image so that in future he can push for legal custody of his daughter Suri. The 50-year-old actor does not want his daughter, six, to live full-time with Katie Holmes and is going all out to ensure he gets what he wants,reported Show bizspy.

Holmes filed for divorce last month after five years of marriage. They agreed on their divorce settlement within a matter of weeks, with Holmes getting primary custody of Suri and Cruise being granted visitation rights.

Cruise plans on taking a break from movies after his current crop of projects end so that he can spend more one-on-one time with Suri.

"He needs to prove he is just as reliable as Katie. And that spending time with his daughter as important to him as having a hit film," a source said.

"Tom is absolutely planning on going after custody of Suri in the future. His plan is to wait for now, and then fight for it down the line," the source added.

Katie Holmes is said to have hired a confidence coach to help get her back on her feet after her split from Tom Cruise.

The 33-year-old split from the movie megastar - the father of her daughter Suri - earlier this year, ending their five-year marriage.

But Katie has apparently been left in need of a new direction since her break-up with Tom - a devotee of creepy cult Scientology.

"She foresaw an incredible golden future for her and Suri, free of Tom and Scientology," the Sun quoted a source as telling a magazine.

"But the glow and radiance that surrounded Katie post-split seem to have evaporated.

"Katie is keen to find her own voice so she has sought professional help and has employed a confidence and life coach who she's been seeing once a week to help her regain who she once was."


Katie filed for divorce from 50-year-old Tom on June 27 this year.

Two weeks later the former Hollywood couple signed a deal giving Tom generous visitation rights of Suri.

Since Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have split, speculation has been that Katie did not want their 6-year-old daughter, Suri, to be further indoctrinated into Scientology, as were the two children Cruise adopted with his former wife, Nicole Kidman.  Those close to Katie and Tom have been quoted saying that Katie had been unhappy for some time. Though she converted to Scientology (she was raised Roman Catholic) she had decided that the rules of Scientology were not for her – and not for her child.

Marriage is taken seriously in the Church of Scientology (the IRS has blessed it with tax-exempt status). It is an element of what practitioners call 2-D, or the second of eight “dynamics,” the first being “self.” The 2-D refers to relationships, marriage, family, sex and creativity. This was established by Scientology’s founder, L. Ron Hubbard, who had been married multiple times and purportedly had numerous affairs, and is all laid out in his book, “Introduction to Scientology Ethics.”


Those who are in a relationship, whether married or not, undergo auditing, a form of therapy. Presumably Katie and Tom did so. In auditing, something called an electropsychometer, or e-meter, may be used more or less like a lie detector. It uses a current running through two can-like devices (originally they used Campbell’s soup cans, I’m told) to measure electromagnetic reactions in the body, which Scientologists claim represent a shift in the subject’s thinking.  The devices are only administered through trained Scientologists and carry a disclaimer saying that they are a purely religious artifact to avoid government scrutiny.


If say, TomKat was having a dispute, one of the two could demand auditing. The idea is that once you have made a vow of marriage, even a stray thought must be confessed to an auditor.  Let’s say, hypothetically, that either Tom or Katie had confessed to the other that he or she was having stray thoughts or did something wrong.  Both would be compelled to tell the auditor and they could both be put on an e-meter where any inconsistencies supposedly would surface. The person found at fault could then be sent to an ethics officer who would decide on a penalty.


I recall reading where one former Scientologist, separated from his wife, kissed another scientologist. As the story was told, she reported the indiscretion to his auditor and he was sent to an ethics officer for a penalty. Penalties range from having to read Hubbard’s book “The Way To Happiness” again, to community service.


The core leaders of Scientology are part of what is called the Sea Organization or Sea Org, named for Hubbard’s own mini-navy, a fleet of ships including three vessels that sailed the high seas. Those on the ships became, in effect, the church’s clergy. Most of the “ships” are land-based now, and those in this inner circle live by strict rules that some have described as military-style and reportedly forbid sexual relations before marriage. Sea Org schools reportedly have accepted children as young as 5 to be taken from the homes for studies, though church spokesmen have disputed these reports.


All of these rules and obligations would surely be enough to scare off somebody like Katie Holmes after a while. But the thing that I imagine frightened her most was seeing what happened to Nicole Kidman’s adopted children, Connor and Bella. They went through Scientology training at Tom’s insistence and have, according to Kidman, turned their backs on her.

It is now understandable that Katie’s lawyer said, when the divorce was announced, “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it has always been, her daughter’s best interests.”

The child has, ever since, held the world captive with its idiosyncrasies. Suri’s photographs were a treat for the eyes. A few days later, the bundle of joy was designated the Best Dressed Celebrity Kid. For her parents, ecstasy was a word that probably wasn’t enough to capture their feelings.

Cut to November 2006. ‘TomKat’, the name that the media had lovingly bestowed upon the world’s most glamorous couple, sealed their love in an otherworldly ceremony. The picture-perfect couple looked like they were meant to be with each other throughout their lives. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes glowed in the joy of matrimony as they ‘officialised’ their relationship within the walls of a 15th Century castle in Italy. The world had known all along, with Cruise’s famous proposal, that a fairy tale was in the making. The couple did not stray even an iota from the images that the minds of the people across the world had conjured up. They exchanged vows in a way that would perhaps have made even the denizens of heaven jealous!

Six years of a dream wedding later, the world was jolted out of its tranquil reverie. A marriage, that once seemed made of steel and cast in rock, was on the threshold of The End. Katie Holmes’ decision to file for divorce – and the actual ‘act’ of filing for divorce – was a bolt out of the blue for many, including me. It was as if the present was part of a nightmare. People waited to wake up from the brutality of it all and realise that the truth wasn’t what their senses were imbibing. The truth, this time, was one that was too harsh to be true, it seemed.

June 29, 2012 was the day which brought to the fore many emotions, shock being the most dominating one. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ fairy tale romance had proved, yet again, in rock-solid hardness, the fact that it was just that – a fairy tale, which perhaps, was too good to be true. Tom’s affiliations to The Church of Scientology being termed ‘kooky’ by Katie, and Suri’s best interest being at the crux of it all – the reasons began to surface right after Katie filed for divorce.

With the impending break-up of supposedly the world’s most famous couple, truth has been driven home, and driven home hard. Relationships are fragile, and fairy tales exist in some hitherto undiscovered world.

For Tom Cruise, the shoe is finally on the other foot.

Cruise's publicist said the actor was "deeply saddened" by Katie Holmes' divorce filing this week, and a source close to the "Rock of Ages" star told ABC News that Holmes' decision came as a "complete surprise."

Curiously all of Cruise's marriages ended when his ex-wives were 33 years old.

The previous times Cruise has gotten divorced, he was in control. He filed for divorce from actress Mimi Rogers in January 1990 after three years of marriage. She seemed to get over it quickly. In October 1990, she told the Associated Press, "As far as I know, we're divorced, but I've been so busy on this new film that I haven't had time to check, so I'm not sure. I bet that sounds pretty silly, huh?"

Later on, she seemed to loathe the fact that she was ever married to the mega movie star.

''[I'm] waiting for the moment when I don't have to talk about that [blankety-blank] name anymore," she told People magazine in 1995.

Cruise filed for divorce from his second wife, Nicole Kidman, in February 2001 after she miscarried their baby (they had previously adopted two children). He dropped the bomb less than two months after they renewed their vows on their 10-year anniversary, Christmas Eve 2000.

Kidman broke down on Oprah Winfrey's talk show in May 2001, calling the situation a "nightmare."

"I think that divorce is hard for anyone. It's a nightmare, it just is, and you can pretend you're fine," she said. "And days you're great [and] days you're not great."

In a written response to a divorce petition filed by Cruise on the grounds of irreconcilable differences, Kidman said she was stunned when he told her that he no longer wanted to be married, and allegedly begged him to stay and seek marriage counseling. He refused and left for good, according to her response.

When asked by Winfrey whether she thought she would always be married, Kidman timidly replied, "Yeah."

"I've had a blessed life," she said. "I've always thought [if] something bad is going to happen, something bad is going to happen. But then something really bad happened. A number of really bad things happened. You go, 'I'm dealing with it. I'm stronger than I thought.'"

Kidman is now happily married to country singer Keith Urban. They have two children together.

Given how adoringly Cruise has spoken about Holmes throughout their relationship -- he told the May issue of Playboy, "I'm just happy, and I have been since the moment I met her" -- he may take a while to get back to his eccentric, couch-jumping self. But the last time this happened, his first ex-wife voiced her confidence in Mr. Mission Impossible's ability to rebound.

"Tom is very strong -- he handles stress," Rogers told People magazine in 2001. "He's human. He has a temper. He blows up sometimes, whatever, but it's not like he can't deal with it."
