Kareena Kapoor's Halkat jawaani mirrors Katrina Kaif's Chikni Chameli moves?

The full version of Kareena Kapoor's much-hyped item dance, 'Halkat jawaani', from Heroine has been launched on television and the Internet, and the number has become quite the rage online.

The song was launched on August 16 and has been touted as the high point of Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine.

The reactions - though largely positive - have been mixed overall. While Kareena fans have raved about her toned sexy look and energetic dance in the improvised lavani number, others feel the actress is merely trying to ape Katrina Kaif's 'Chikni Chameli' from Agneepath.

Incidentally, 'Halkat jawaani' is choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, the same man who made Katrina dance in 'Chikni Chameli'. "Kareena has given the best shot ever in this item dance," Ganesh said. Madhur, reportedly had doubts about how ready Kareena would be to pull off the desi number.

"Madhur didn't have as much faith as I had in myself, and thought I would require at least three to five days of rehearsals. I took only two hours to finish it in one take. 'Halkat Jawaani' is a great song, Niranjan has done a fabulous job with the lyrics and master (Ganesh Acharya) has done an absolutely great job with the moves," Kareena said.

Bhandarkar, too is satisfied with the song. "The steps are very desi. Ganeshji has choreographed the dance very well," he said.

It remains to be seen if yet another desi item clicks with the masses or simply fades away, the same way as Vidya Balan's 'Mala jau de' in Ferrari Ki Sawaari.
