Katrina Kaif to sing for A R Rahman

Katrina Kaif's singing aspirations just got bigger. While she was all set to lend her voice to Yash Raj Films' Dhoom 3, the latest is she has put her original plan on hold, and will instead sing a romantic number penned by Gulzar and composed by A R Rahman for Yash Chopra's directorial comeback.
A close friend of Kat told us, "No half-measures for Katrina these days. She had earlier decided to sing for Yash Raj's Dhoom 3 with about a week of rehearsals thrown in. But now, she has grown more ambitious and wants to try out a more complex singing challenge the other film directed by Yash Chopra has thrown at her."

The friend revealed Kat had always wanted to sing but shied away from doing so in public. Last year, when she recited nursery rhymes for a charity album composed by A R Rahman, she bonded with the music composer and the idea of her singing in a film for the 'Mozart of Madras' took seed.

Said the friend, "Earlier, Kat had a persistent offer from Ali Zafar to sing with him for his private album. He was keen but she begged off. Then came the chance to sing in Dhoom 3, which she liked. But now, the prospect of singing a dreamy romantic song for a Yash Raj film, written by Gulzar and composed by A R Rahman has caught her fancy."

As things stand, Katrina will sing for the untitled film before Dhoom 3, depending on her level of preparation. Interestingly, rival Priyanka Chopra will be heard singing in Apoorva Lakhia's Zanjeer. We tried to get in touch with Katrina. However, she remained unavailable for comment.
