New Delhi: Sherlyn Chopra's career graph may have shot up after she announced that she will be the first Indian and the only one to pose nude on the cover of the Playboy magazine. But Playboy clearly stretched it a bit when it anointed its first Indian covergirl as a 'Bollywood legend.'
The 28-year-old model and actress has 10 films to her credit and most of her fame comes from a stint at the celebrity reality show Bigg Boss that is known to make stars of struggling professionals. A brief bio of the actress on its website is accompanied by a snapshot of Chopra with the tagline 'Bollywood legend Sherlyn Chopra, coming soon to Playboy'.
But the description throws some light into her upbringing and family life.
"After surprising the world through her tweets about being the first Indian woman to appear in the pages of Playboy magazine, the name Sherlyn Chopra has been on the lips of millions. Born on February 11th, 1984, Sherlyn was raised by her Muslim mother and Christian father, who was a doctor until the age of 55," the description said.
"With a younger sister who is a disc jockey in Hyderabad, India and a brother who lives in Auckland, New Zealand working as a computer software engineer, Sherlyn has craved the spotlight since a young age. Since winning a beauty pageant at the age of 17, she’s moved to the city of Bollywood, Mumbai, to appear in numerous Bollywood films," it said.
It shows how little the West knows about the Indian film industry and its key players. The description also has a link to a protected nude photogallery of Chopra.
