If we look at her music career we come to know that she faced a failure for her first two albums due to poor commercial reception with local producers. But she never stoped herself due to her failure and decided to come up with her own brand of music and then in 1995 she had a great success in the shape of "Pies Descalzos" and then in 1998 with the record selling of more than 7M copies of "Dónde Están los Ladrones" she show how capiable and briliant singer she is. But she didn't stopped herself to her native language singing only and then in 2001 she came up with her first English song "Whenever Wherever" and shown her skill to the English Music Industry with the record selling of best single of 2002. Then again her release of "Laundry Service" set other standard with the record selling of 13M copies around the globe. Afterward "Hips Don't Lie" was another brake for her which remained the best selling song of 20th century. Then "WAKA WAKA" was a smash hit by Shakira with record biggest selling song of all time for World Cup. For those who may not know "WAKA WAKA" was chosen as the official song for the FIFA World Cup 2010.
Shakira has won two Grammy Awards,eight Latin Grammy Awards, twelve Billboard Latin Music Awards and has been Golden Globe nominated. She is also the highest selling Colombian artist of all time, and the second most successful female Latin singer behind Gloria Estefan, having sold over 70 million albums worldwide.
With her music career Shakira also did some humanitarian and social work for poor childrens charity. Shakira founded the Pies Descalzos Foundation in 1995, which is a Colombian charity with special schools for poor children all around Colombia. For her charity and social welfare work she did number of benefit concerts as well, including "Live 8 Benefit Concert", "Live Earth Concert", "Clinton Global Initiative", and many more. She was also invited to the Oval Office by President Barack Obama in February 2010 to discuss early childhood development.
